Role Overview
The Manager/Lead for Project Planning & Control will steer planning and control activities for the function, ensuring that schedules, resources, and control systems work together to deliver projects within scope, budget, and timeline. Reporting to the Head of Project Planning & Control, this role focuses on schedule governance, progress tracking, system discipline, and timely reporting to keep project execution aligned with business goals.
Core Responsibilities
This role requires ownership of project scheduling, coordination across engineering, procurement, and construction teams, and active monitoring of project performance. The position also involves portfolio-level review, risk tracking, compliance with planning systems, cost oversight, stakeholder communication, and senior management reporting.
Strategic Planning and Execution
Build and run project scheduling plans for construction work, making sure each stage advances according to the approved timeline.
Create and maintain project schedules in tools such as Primavera and MS Project to monitor all phases of EPC delivery.
Work closely with the Central Project Assurance Group (CPAG) to keep project outcomes aligned with agreed objectives.
Operations Management
Coordinate day-to-day work across engineering, procurement, and construction streams so that resources are deployed effectively and milestones stay on track.
Adjust timelines and manpower plans as project needs change, while keeping disruption to critical deliverables to a minimum.
Track project movement closely, study gaps in schedule, cost, and resource usage, and identify areas where action is needed to reduce risk.
Drive corrective actions with internal and external stakeholders to keep execution moving forward.
Project Portfolio Management
Carry out periodic portfolio reviews and share performance, risk, and corrective-action insights with senior leadership.
Rank and prioritize projects based on available resources, risk profile, and expected return on investment so that the portfolio is allocated efficiently.
Regulatory Compliance
Set up consistent processes for reporting, audits, and quality/safety checks in line with AERA and MOCA requirements and recognized industry practices.
Ensure the organization’s planning systems are followed and that reporting outputs such as Daily Progress Reports (DPR) and Monthly Progress Reports (MPR) are produced accurately.
Maintain standardized documentation and control workflows to support adherence to schedule and budget commitments.
Risk Management
Design practical risk management approaches to identify, evaluate, and reduce project risks before they affect delivery.
Monitor KPIs and strengthen reporting systems so that financial, progress, and risk information remains clear and transparent.
Maintain the risk register and constraints log, ensuring updates are tracked and managed properly.
Financial Oversight
Provide oversight on budgets, forecasts, and performance indicators so that project execution stays aligned with financial targets.
Put cost-control measures in place across the full project lifecycle to keep spending within approved limits.
Review cost variances and work with project teams to rebalance resources and avoid budget overruns.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Define KPIs that measure project progress, quality, safety, and budget compliance.
Prepare detailed progress updates for senior management, including variances, constraints, and data-backed recommendations.
Use project control tools to ensure SOP compliance and accurate capture of all relevant project metrics for decision-making.
Stakeholder Management
Partner with internal teams and outside stakeholders such as contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to keep objectives and timelines aligned.
Serve as the main contact for schedule and planning queries, ensuring communication remains clear and timely for all parties involved.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline from a recognized institution is required. A PMP or equivalent project management certification is also expected.
Experience Required
The role calls for 15+ years of experience in project planning, scheduling, and control in the construction sector, including at least 5 years in a leadership position. Exposure to large infrastructure projects, preferably in airports or transportation, is preferred.

This role is based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India and is a full-time onsite position. The job involves substantial coordination across technical, commercial, compliance, finance, and external regulatory groups, with a strong emphasis on disciplined planning, reporting, and control.
