Java Software Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a proficient Java Backend Developer with additional web application frontend skills to join our team on a contract basis in Toronto, ON. The position requires onsite presence three times a week and offers a pay rate of CAD 45 per hour.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring framework.
• Contribute to frontend web application development using technologies like Angular and JavaScript (preferred).
• Lead agile team initiatives, promoting effective collaboration and delivery.
• Implement DevOps practices to streamline development and deployment processes.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Java and Spring technologies.
• Minimum 3 years of cloud platform experience, particularly with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP4 preferred) or Azure/AWS.
• Experience working with Linux or AIX environments for at least 3 years.
• Minimum 3 years practicing Agile methodologies in software development.
• Proven leadership skills with at least 3 years of leading agile development teams.
• At least 1 year of experience with DevOps tools and processes.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence concepts and tools such as Large Language Models (LLM), Multi-Channel Processing (MCP), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), LangChain, vector databases, and task/agent workflows.
• Experience in frontend web development technologies including Angular and JavaScript.
