Job description
Role Overview
This is a unique position as the sole mobile engineer responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining the mobile application. You will have full ownership of the mobile platform with no existing team or pre-established processes. This is an opportunity for someone eager to take full responsibility without needing prior approvals for decisions, from concept to production deployment and long-term maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript, delivering high-quality releases on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Manage the entire mobile app lifecycle, including updates, bug fixes, and ongoing maintenance post-launch.
- Develop native modules using Swift and Kotlin as necessary, debug platform-specific crashes, and interpret platform documentation confidently.
- Navigate and anticipate App Store review processes, including common rejection issues related to minimum functionality, permission requests, and payment guidelines, ensuring compliance prior to submission.
- Take full ownership of project outcomes by prioritizing shipping smaller, functional features to production quickly rather than delayed, larger releases to staging.
- Communicate clearly and effectively through async channels to coordinate with distributed team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Capacitor or Trusted Web Activity especially as our current Android app uses TWA technology that you will eventually replace.
- Keen attention to user experience details including loading states, offline functionality, keyboard interaction, and accessibility features.
- Familiarity with Expo EAS tools for building, updating, and submitting apps in production environments.
- Knowledge of Firebase phone authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and payment SDKs like Razorpay.
- Understanding of Next.js since the web application currently hosts the core product.
- Background in healthcare or similarly regulated industries is beneficial.
Additional Information
This is a critical foundational role acting as the principal mobile developer and architect. The candidate should be comfortable with owning the entire lifecycle and making autonomous decisions. Communication skills for asynchronous collaboration are essential. The role is onsite in Pune, India. Any graduate is eligible to apply.
