Facilities Manager

Position Overview

The Metropolitan School of Panama is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and management of the school campus located in Doha, Qatar. This role demands ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and infrastructure remain safe, fully functional, and conducive to an effective teaching and learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the school’s physical estate to guarantee safety and optimal functionality.
• Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance schedules while managing reactive repairs.
• Coordinate statutory inspections, testing, certifications, and support both internal and external audits.
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers; ensure work quality and adherence to safety standards.
• Assist in the planning and execution of refurbishment and capital improvement projects.
• Maintain comprehensive asset registers, equipment records, and historical maintenance data to optimize lifecycle management.
• Support budget management and procurement activities related to facility operations, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Provide facility support during school events, examinations, and emergencies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Academic degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
• Proven experience managing facilities within complex operational settings.
• Skill in coordinating maintenance programs and overseeing contractors.
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance practices, statutory compliance, and facilities management principles.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and IT competencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) is advantageous.
• Additional credentials like NEBOSH, IOSH, or project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2) are desirable.
• Experience in educational environments or familiarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is beneficial.
