About the Internship
Join Planys Technologies Private Limited, an IIT Madras-incubated startup specializing in robotic inspection technologies for underwater applications. This 6-month in-office internship based in Chennai offers hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering focused on quality control and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine mechanical parts and finished products to verify adherence to engineering drawings and quality benchmarks.
- Interpret engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Update and manage inventory records, bills of materials (BOM), and store documentation.
- Document inspection findings and maintain quality assurance records.
- Support production teams in enhancing process efficiency and product quality.
- Conduct precision quality measurements utilizing tools like calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Assist in analyzing defects while recommending process improvements to minimize quality issues.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and Design departments.
- Comply with workplace safety protocols and guidelines.
Candidate Profile and Skills
- Fundamental understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Basic knowledge of quality control methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Word.
- Strong communication skills and an aptitude for teamwork.
- Detail-oriented mindset with eagerness to learn and adapt.
Educational Criteria and Eligibility
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 1 year of experience in Quality or Production roles, or
- Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Applicants must be able to commit full-time onsite availability for the entire 6-month period starting between August 28 and October 2, 2026.
Compensation and Benefits
- Monthly stipend ranging from INR 12,000 to INR 15,000.
