About the Internship

This internship offers hands-on experience in design and market research within the accessible luxury handbag sector, led by Shelar Bags, a Mumbai-based design-driven startup. The company aims to create handbags inspired by Indian cultural elements that are both functional and seamlessly integrated into daily use.

Intern Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive market research including category studies, competitor assessments, trend evaluations, and direct interviews with target consumers.
• Convert research insights into visual and conceptual tools such as mood boards, inspiration boards, and curated color and material palettes.
• Create 2D design concepts, sketches, and refined designs grounded in the research outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently completed a design-related degree.
• A portfolio showcasing creative process and design thinking is mandatory.
• Experience with at least one project related to accessories, bags, leather goods, or hard goods is required (including coursework).
• Availability for full-time, in-office work in Mumbai or Maharashtra for the entire two-month internship period.
• Open to women looking to initiate or restart their career pathways.

Internship Details

• Duration: 2 months
• Start Date: Between August 11, 2026 and September 15, 2026, with immediate availability preferred
• Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (office-based)
• Stipend: INR 10,000 to 15,000 per month
