About the internship
About the Internship
This internship offers hands-on experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure using cutting-edge technologies. Interns will engage in creating and provisioning Google Cloud Platform (GCP) projects, virtual private clouds (VPCs), and private Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters across different environments including development, QA, and production. This will be done leveraging Terraform and Continuous Integration (CI) techniques for Infrastructure as Code validation.
Responsibilities also include setting up developer environments with proper tools, secure access, Kubernetes contexts, and scoped service accounts to streamline onboarding processes. Interns will strengthen repository security through implementation of organizational Single Sign-On (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), protective branch settings, signed commits, pre-commit hooks, and secrets scanning.
Key tasks further involve building and managing Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline templates using tools like Tekton, Cloud Build, or GitHub Actions to support build, testing, vulnerability assessment, image signing, and deployment workflows. They will implement GitOps methodologies via Argo CD or Flux, including app-of-apps architectures, automated promotion, and rollback procedures.
Additionally, managing container registries such as Harbor or Google Container Registry (GCR) with policies on image signing, retention, and vulnerabilities is crucial. Integration of SSO and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) systems utilizing SAML or OpenID Connect (OIDC) identity providers will enforce secure access across Kubernetes environments.
Interns will implement TLS and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) automation using cert-manager, Vault, or Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME) for certificate lifecycle management. They will enforce security and policy enforcement frameworks including Pod Security Standards, network policies, Open Policy Agent (OPA), Gatekeeper, Kyverno, and secure secret management solutions.
The role includes deployment and operation of observability and monitoring systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch-Fluentd-Kibana (EFK) stack, and OpenTelemetry, along with managing health checks, incident responses, and postmortems. Interns will also provide enablement resources like repository templates, Helm charts, onboarding scripts, runbooks, and training materials for application teams.
