Backend Development Internship (Remote)

About the Internship

Join Arrota's backend development team as an intern, contributing to the core systems supporting an advanced AI-powered SaaS platform. This role emphasizes improving backend reliability, security, and testability to prepare for a beta release. You will engage with real infrastructure elements such as databases, authentication mechanisms, background processes, multi-tenant access controls, APIs, and AI integrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance backend services including APIs, business logic, authentication, permissions, and internal operations.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL database queries, manage schema migrations, and ensure data consistency.
• Strengthen authentication and authorization frameworks to uphold workspace isolation and role-based access control.
• Implement and maintain multi-tenant SaaS architecture ensuring proper data access segregation.
• Manage PostgreSQL Row Level Security policies and test boundaries to prevent unauthorized data exposure.
• Create clean, reliable backend endpoints to facilitate frontend integration.
• Handle background jobs and queued workflows, including retries and failure scenarios.
• Enhance backend robustness through improved validation, logging, error handling, and recovery strategies.
• Integrate with AI models and external APIs, managing usage and routing logic.
• Identify and resolve backend performance bottlenecks and inefficient query patterns.
• Implement user data workflows such as account export, deletion, and data retention processes.
• Write and maintain comprehensive backend tests covering APIs, database, integrations, and security policies.
• Diagnose and resolve backend issues across services, queries, permissions, and authentication.
• Adapt and evolve features within an existing codebase, understanding current architectures before changes.
• Contribute to preparing the product for beta launch by addressing critical backend challenges.

Candidate Eligibility

• Available to work remotely and commit to a 3-month internship starting between October 7, 2026, and November 11, 2026.
• Currently a Computer Science Engineering student or a fresher seeking job opportunities.
• Interest and skills aligned with backend development in SaaS environments.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience or familiarity with PostgreSQL, API development, authentication, and backend architecture.
• Knowledge of software testing practices, Git version control, Node.js, TypeScript, and debugging techniques.
• Understanding of database systems and RESTful API design.
• Bonus points for experience with Supabase, PostgreSQL Row Level Security, multi-tenant systems, background job queues, AI/LLM integrations, and third-party API usage.
• Strong problem-solving skills with emphasis on reliability and security.
• Ability to quickly debug backend problems and maintain stable system operations under deadlines.
• Possession of a GitHub profile or backend project portfolio is advantageous.

Additional Information

• Successful interns may receive a job offer with an annual salary range of ₹480,000 to ₹600,000 upon full-time conversion.
• Work schedule includes flexible hours over 5 days per week.
