Position Overview
We seek a collaborative Backend Engineer with a passion for Java and scalable system design to join our engineering team. In this role, you will contribute essential technical features to Symphony's core backend infrastructure, emphasizing maintainability and high availability. Your work will span significant re-engineering projects, including codebase refactoring, database optimization, infrastructure advancements, and CI/CD pipeline improvements.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement Java backend services and ensure their integration with Symphony components and databases such as MongoDB, BigTable, and Redis.
- Develop and maintain automation tooling for building, deploying, and operating Symphony's services within public cloud environments using GitOps methods (e.g., ArgoCD, Jenkins).
- Partner with Site Reliability Engineers to support infrastructure, resolve production issues, and maintain system stability.
- Engage actively in design discussions and code reviews to uphold standards for software construction, testing, and monitoring.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- At least three years of experience in Java server-side development.
- Proven expertise managing software through development, deployment, and maintenance under stringent reliability standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities capable of independently managing mid-scale feature delivery.
- Ability to excel in a dynamic, collaborative, agile international environment.
- Enthusiasm for learning emerging technologies, software stacks, and tooling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Helm.
- Experience working within multi-cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary between £45,000 and £60,000.
