Role Overview

The full-time Shop Assistant position, located onsite in Pune Division, involves aiding customers on the sales floor by assisting them in finding products, addressing basic product inquiries, and maintaining a courteous demeanor. Daily duties include tidying and restocking shelves, maintaining store cleanliness and organization, and assisting with visual product merchandising. The role also entails completing sales transactions with a point-of-sale system, issuing receipts, and managing cash handling practices responsibly. Additional responsibilities include receiving and inspecting deliveries, verifying product conditions and quantities, and collaborating with the team to ensure inventory accuracy. The Shop Assistant may also participate in straightforward promotional events and work closely with supervisors to facilitate smooth store operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong customer service skills encompassing polite interaction, attentive listening, and helpfulness to shoppers.
• Basic retail expertise, including cash register operation, point-of-sale system proficiency, and processing simple sales transactions.
• Organizational capabilities and housekeeping skills to maintain attractive product displays, store cleanliness, and orderly stock arrangement.
• Ability to adhere to instructions, contribute effectively to a team, and adapt flexibly during busy periods.
• Basic numerical proficiency and communication abilities in English and local languages for billing and customer query handling.
• Prior retail experience in hardware, paint, or decor shops advantageous but not mandatory; a willingness to learn is critical.
• Commitment to full-time work on-site in Pune Division, including weekends and potential extended hours.
• Minimum education of high school completion or equivalent; physically capable of standing long hours and managing light to moderate lifting.
