Job description
Role Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor at Accenture DACH located in Frankfurt, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful financial management and delivery of complex capital projects. This involves offering specialist quantity surveying and cost control services throughout the entire project lifecycle, closely cooperating with clients, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects within budget and contractual requirements. Emphasis is placed on value, quality, and managing risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project cost plans, budgets, estimates, and financial forecasts covering all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Assist procurement processes by preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, conducting commercial assessments, and supporting contract award decisions.
- Manage construction contract administration ensuring compliance with obligations and commercial standards.
- Carry out measurement, valuation, and certification of construction works, including interim valuations and final accounts.
- Evaluate, negotiate and oversee variations, change orders, claims, and commercial risk matters.
- Track project costs and financial performance to identify potential risks, optimize opportunities, and implement mitigations.
- Produce regular commercial reports such as cost status reports, cash flow forecasts, commitment monitoring, and cost-to-complete analyses.
- Contribute to value engineering and cost optimization efforts during design and construction phases.
- Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, cost control units, contractors, and clients to ensure effective commercial governance.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of project documentation, cost databases, benchmarking data, and historical cost records.
- Comply with client governance policies, internal financial controls, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Support ongoing process improvements by sharing industry best practices and helping develop commercial management procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Commercial Management, or related fields.
- Professional experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Cost Management for construction, infrastructure, industrial, or engineering projects.
- Experience spanning the full project lifecycle from pre-contract stages through project completion and final account settlement.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cost planning, estimating, procurement, contract administration, variation/change control, and commercial reporting practices.
- Familiarity with standard construction contracts such as FIDIC, NEC, JCT, or VOB.
- Proven skills in preparing valuations, handling variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Strong analytical ability, commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and high attention to detail.
- Capacity to manage several priorities efficiently in international and multidisciplinary project settings.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management competencies with a focus on client service.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and industry-standard commercial and cost management software tools.
- Professional affiliation with RICS, AACE International, or similar institutions is an advantage; candidates working toward chartership are welcome.
- Experience in sectors like Data Centres, Infrastructure, Industrial, Energy, Healthcare, or Commercial Real Estate is a plus.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; German language proficiency at least at B2 level is preferred and may be required per project needs.
