Role Overview
The Junior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in supporting land, property, and construction surveying tasks by assisting with the acquisition of accurate survey data and measurements. This role offers hands-on experience contributing to varied projects such as construction, mapping, infrastructure, and land development under the guidance of senior surveyors and engineering staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform assistance in conducting topographic, land, and construction surveys using instruments like Total Stations, GPS/GNSS devices, and digital levels.
- Support the establishment and verification of critical control points and benchmarks.
- Contribute to construction layout and setting-out activities for structures including buildings, roads, and utilities.
- Collect, document, and maintain precise survey measurements and field notes.
- Assist with the preparation of technical survey drawings, maps, and reports using AutoCAD and related software.
- Engage in as-built surveys to check completed works against design specifications.
- Identify and report site discrepancies to senior surveyors or engineers.
- Support boundary and property surveys adhering to project specifications and regulations.
- Carry out basic surveying calculations and data processing under supervision.
- Coordinate with project teams and contractors to facilitate survey tasks.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and storage of surveying tools and equipment.
- Adhere to company protocols, quality standards, and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines actively participating in safety initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying Engineering, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Fresh graduates or candidates with up to two years of relevant survey experience preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of principles and practices in land surveying.
- Experience or familiarity with Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, digital levels, and other surveying devices.
- Basic understanding of survey calculations, coordinate systems, and mapping methods.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maps, and technical documentation accurately.
- Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving mindset.
- High accuracy with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Motivated to learn and enhance technical surveying competencies.
- Knowledge of SAP or other ERP platforms is considered a plus.
Experience
- Applicable experience ranges from fresh graduate level to a maximum of 2 years in land or construction surveying roles.
