Job description

Position Summary

We seek a seasoned Software Engineer proficient in Scala and Java to join our team on a 12-month contract basis in Singapore, with possibility for extension. The role demands delivering scalable technology solutions aligned with business goals while collaborating with cross-regional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust, scalable software applying contemporary development standards.
  • Partner with global teams to architect and develop new features using Scala/Java within shared platforms.
  • Clearly articulate technical designs and solutions to interdisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor software engineers fostering engineering excellence and adopting best practices.
  • Utilize event sourcing, CQRS, design patterns, and clean coding principles for high-quality outputs.
  • Develop thoroughly tested software through Test Driven Development, Specification by Example, Behavior-Driven and Acceptance Test-Driven Development, alongside Continuous Integration methodologies.
  • Participate actively in Agile and Scrum processes, driving continuous process improvements.
  • Manage SDLC automation tools such as Jenkins, Gradle, GitHub, Artifactory, and Ansible.
  • Enhance application performance and engage in system architecture and design discussions.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven expertise coding with Scala and/or Java.
  • In-depth knowledge of Object-Oriented and Functional Programming concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with event sourcing, CQRS, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
  • Strong grasp of algorithms and methods for optimizing code.
  • Competence in TDD, BDD/ATDD techniques, and Continuous Integration pipelines.
  • Practical experience with automation and build tools: Jenkins, Gradle, GitHub, Artifactory, Ansible.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Capability to multitask and prioritize effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with frontend technologies such as ReactJS and AngularJS, or search technologies like Elasticsearch.
  • Knowledge of AMPS messaging infrastructure and proficiency in SQL/database programming.
  • Background understanding of Capital Markets focusing on securities trade processing, clearing, and settlement.
