Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Finance Business Partner to become an integral part of our Finance and Risk Group located in central Wellington. This permanent full-time role involves collaborating closely with leaders across Corporate Services, Finance and Risk, Strategy, People and Customer, as well as Te Hunga Whiriwhiri departments. As a trusted financial advisor, you will provide expert guidance to support day-to-day operations and long-term decision-making while enhancing organizational performance through insightful financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead processes for budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting, and business case development.
  • Build and maintain strong communication and working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement initiatives and positively impact financial sustainability and community objectives.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Membership as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent financial qualification.
  • Between five to eight years of experience in financial planning and business partnering roles.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting standards, financial management frameworks, and tax regulations.
  • Proven capabilities in creating budgets, forecasts, management reports, and long-range financial plans.
  • Expertise in developing business cases and providing commercial or strategic financial advice.
  • Skilled in using ERP platforms and financial planning and reporting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude, translating comprehensive financial data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at influencing stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Track record of cultivating trusted relationships across diverse teams and business areas.
  • Experience within local government, infrastructure, utilities, or comparable complex environments is preferred.

Salary and Application Details

Salary for this position ranges from NZD 108,673 to NZD 163,101 annually, with a midpoint at NZD 135,842. Starting pay is dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
