Job description
Overview
Join the Nova Scotia Health Authority as an Environmental Services Worker based in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, within the Western Zone at the South Shore Regional Hospital. This temporary full-time hourly role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and functional setting for patients, families, staff, and visitors under the guidance of the Assistant Manager of Facility Support Services.
Key Duties
You will be responsible for cleaning designated units including patient rooms and public areas by performing tasks such as mopping, dusting, vacuuming furniture, floors, and stairways, floor buffing, scrubbing and refinishing, moving and arranging furniture, and changing curtains or drapes. Your work should consistently reflect the organization’s mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, leadership philosophy, and focus on safety, ethics, quality service, and collaboration.
Candidate Profile
Candidates should have at least Grade 12 education or equivalent work experience and demonstrate a commitment to fostering a culture of safety, ethical conduct, and organizational health. Maintaining confidentiality is essential. Travel to various sites may be required, so having access to a reliable vehicle is necessary. Experience with cleaning equipment such as Taski spray buffers, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and shampooers is required. Proficiency in additional languages, especially French, is a plus.
Work Schedule and Duration
- This is a long-term assignment lasting approximately 15 months.
- The position involves working about 75 hours biweekly on a full-time basis.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage ranges from $20.74 to $21.56. Successful candidates might qualify for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
