Job description
About the Role
As a Dispenser at Boots, you will be a vital part of the pharmacy team operating within a store, supporting pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient provision of pharmacy and healthcare services. Your work will heavily involve interacting with patients, understanding their needs, and helping them make informed decisions about their medications and health.
Key Duties
- Dispense prescriptions accurately, ensuring the safe supply of medicines including ordering, labeling, endorsing, and handling prescription collections.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals in the store to manage and deliver effective pharmacy services.
- Offer advice and care to patients concerning their medications, referring complex queries to the Pharmacist as needed.
- Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain safety and legality in dispensing tasks.
- Keep up with new innovations and operational procedures within the store environment.
- Support patients in managing their prescriptions and medications effectively to promote adherence and minimize waste.
Technology and Development
You will have the chance to work with emerging technologies designed to modernize dispensing processes, improving patient safety and enabling you to devote more time to patient care. Training updates and career progression opportunities, such as becoming a Pharmacy Technician or joining store leadership, will be available.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification (NVQ2 or equivalent) or be in progress, with completion of the first year of an MPharm degree.
- Possess a current and valid UK right to work; sponsorship for Skilled Worker Visa is not available for this role.

- Background working in community pharmacy is advantageous.
