Job description
Role Overview
This full-time position is based at Hagley Catholic High School, with working hours from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, excluding bank holidays. The job entails working for 39 weeks during the school term and an additional 4 weeks focused on deep cleaning during school holidays, as coordinated with the Line Manager. Holiday leave during term time is not permitted due to the nature of the role. Candidates must have a full enhanced DBS check, which the company will provide.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, surface wiping, and trash disposal in accordance with site specifications
- Maintain cleanliness of welfare facilities, offices, corridors, washrooms, and other designated areas to high standards
- Restock consumables including toilet paper, hand towels, and soap as needed
- Adhere strictly to health & safety policies, COSHH regulations, and established cleaning protocols
- Operate cleaning equipment and materials safely and appropriately
- Alert supervisors to any maintenance problems, damage, or hazards observed during work
- Work efficiently to complete all assigned duties within the required timeframe
- Maintain professionalism and polite interactions with clients, colleagues, and visitors
- Comply with any site-specific cleaning requests communicated by managers
Candidate Requirements
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo a company-provided DBS check
- Previous experience in commercial, public sector, or related cleaning roles preferred but not mandatory
- Sound knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Understanding of hygiene regulations and health & safety requirements
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high cleaning standards
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to changing work needs
- Capability to follow instructions and adhere to policies effectively
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Experience in Facilities Management or contracted cleaning services
- Familiarity with COSHH guidelines or safe handling of cleaning chemicals; training available if required
