About the Role
We are searching for an experienced Manager of Software Development to lead the EC2 Accelerated Nitro team. This role focuses on steering a skilled engineering group to advance our EC2 platforms, enhancing customer experiences through innovation, optimization, and ensuring superior performance, scalability, and dependability.
The position demands a hybrid skill set including technical expertise in operating systems and software development, strategic product planning, program management, and operational execution. Strong communication abilities are essential to foster trust with executives and customers alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex technical and business requirements, articulate risks and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Principal Engineers to drive team vision and challenge team members to excel.
- Lead team planning aligned with delivery timelines, oversee operational duties and on-call rotations.
- Communicate effectively with leadership and customers, balancing technical detail with clear messaging.
- Build a top-performing team through strategic hiring, mentorship, skills development, and performance oversight.
- Influence and engage with other teams and leaders globally, contributing to cross-team collaboration and tackling technical challenges.
Daily Activities
You will prioritize recruiting talent to strengthen the team's capabilities, ensure smooth operation of software in production, proactively manage challenges, and guide your team's roadmap and long-term vision. Partnering across management within EC2 Accelerated Nitro, you will enhance the engineering experience and contribute to broader organizational goals.
About EC2 Accelerated Nitro
The team aims to migrate all customer workloads to cloud-accelerated EC2 instances and create the most feature-complete virtualization technologies in the industry.
About AWS Utility Computing
AWS Utility Computing builds core AWS services such as EC2, S3, and other specialized products, including security solutions for customers needing dedicated environments.

Minimum Qualifications
- Previous hands-on software development experience.
- Strong grasp of operating systems concepts.
- Proven history managing software development teams and applying agile methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute a software product roadmap driving projects and programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Linux environments.
- Familiarity with key performance factors in operating systems and kernel impacts.
- Expertise in designing and implementing full software development lifecycles.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical engineering deliverables.
