Job description
Overview
This role oversees the engineering department activities within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia. The incumbent will lead engineering operations, utilities management, maintenance, procurement, and project partnerships while ensuring strict adherence to cGMP and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the engineering team by establishing an efficient organizational structure, recruiting engineering professionals, and coordinating training initiatives with HR to maintain competency.
- Manage operations of utilities such as water systems, HVAC, compressed air, nitrogen, electricity, and building management systems in compliance with cGMP.
- Supervise corrective and preventive maintenance of cGMP premises, equipment, and utilities.
- Oversee procurement, storage, and inventory management of all spare parts.
- Collaborate on new projects involving premises, utilities, and equipment including vendor assessment, execution, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and qualification.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with cGMP requirements, including Quality Management System adherence, auditing, and cross-department collaboration.
- Support technical departments in achieving operational KPIs and engineering excellence.
- Manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets to stay within planned limits.
- Maintain environmental, health, and safety standards by following ISO 14001:2015 and company HSE policies, minimizing environmental impact, reporting hazards, and promoting continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline.
- Over 15 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry engineering roles covering project, facility maintenance, utilities, HVAC, electrical, and operation & maintenance management.
- In-depth knowledge of cGMP regulations related to manufacturing-facility utilities and quality compliance systems.
- Capability to handle multiple complex projects and contacts simultaneously.
- Experience managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets with a focus on maintaining project timelines and budgets.
- Proficiency with SAP and EQMS software systems.
