About Environment Canterbury

Environment Canterbury serves as the regional council dedicated to managing natural resources such as air, soil, water, and land to ensure a sustainable future. They collaborate closely with mana whenua Ngāi Tahu to uphold environmental health and respond adaptively to ongoing regulatory and ecological developments. The council's operations principally focus on environmental regulation and protection, community hazard preparedness and response, and public transport services.

Role Overview

As a Functional Lead within the Applications team, you will report to the Applications Team Leader and partner with Subject Matter Experts. Your responsibility involves leading the design, configuration, testing, and documentation of critical software solutions aligned with business objectives. Coordination with Solution Architects and other IT professionals will ensure alignment with product roadmaps. Flexible work arrangements are open for discussion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide functional expertise in core applications to guide design, development, testing, and deployment of new solutions.
  • Develop and update functional specifications and related documentation.
  • Offer proactive incident support including risk evaluations and solution suggestions.
  • Collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams to deliver informed advice across multiple projects.
  • Mentor colleagues within the functional team to foster skills growth and knowledge sharing.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate holds tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; however, equivalent demonstrated skills and experience will be considered. A minimum of four years’ experience in software support and full-cycle implementation involvement is preferred. Competency to understand all facets of software support and flexibility to work across various technologies is essential.

Experience and Skills

  • Familiarity with configuring and supporting Dynamics 365 CRM is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the core Dynamics 365 modules.
  • Exposure to regulatory organizations and applications is a plus.
  • Functional experience from implementing and supporting complex solutions within a varied organizational context.
  • System design proficiency including process analysis and business requirements gathering.
  • Strong teamwork experience with the ability to mentor peers.
