Role Overview

The Environmental Coordinator will play an instrumental part in overseeing environmental compliance and assisting with project delivery within construction initiatives. Collaborating closely with delivery managers, project engineers, contractors, environmental experts, mana whenua partners, community organizations, and Auckland Council, the role ensures adherence to compliance requirements and the achievement of environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for environmental compliance across various construction projects.
  • Maintain compliance registers and manage Watercare's environmental compliance systems.
  • Coordinate environmental training sessions, inductions, and manage project documentation.
  • Assist with securing environmental approvals and handling statutory applications.
  • Engage with environmental programmes, community initiatives, and stakeholder communication efforts.
  • Prepare reports, develop templates, and generate documentation that promote continuous improvement within the team.
  • Manage environmental documents and records using project tools including Aconex and project web platforms.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates are organized, collaborative professionals passionate about environmental stewardship and eager to advance their career in major infrastructure environments.

  • Possess a tertiary qualification in environmental science, resource management, planning, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong organizational, time management, and administrative capabilities.
  • Capable of building positive relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders.
  • Show a proactive attitude with willingness to learn new systems, processes, and environmental regulations.
  • Prior exposure to environmental sectors or infrastructure projects is beneficial.
