Job description

About Talon.One

Talon. One delivers a powerful incentives engine that integrates loyalty, promotions, and gamification into a unified platform. It supports enterprise-level security and scalability, enabling companies to design personalized and profitable promotions as well as loyalty programs using any data. Currently, over 250 top brands worldwide, including Adidas, Sephora, and Carlsberg, rely on Talon. One to enhance customer engagement and foster lasting brand loyalty.

About the Team

The Developer Experience (DevX) team assists customers in integrating and utilizing Talon. One products. The team handles product and developer documentation, in-product user experience copy, and manages the technical infrastructure for the documentation platform. Its primary user groups are marketing professionals (campaign and loyalty managers) and backend engineers working with APIs. The approach is docs-as-code, maintaining content within GitHub and powering the documentation site with Docusaurus. API references are generated from OpenAPI specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a broad range of documentation including reference materials, integration guides, tutorials, and product-oriented content.
  • Collaborate with the current documentation engineer to develop innovative solutions to existing challenges.
  • Co-manage the pipeline that converts OpenAPI specifications into published API references, including validation, transformation, and deployment processes.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and continuous integration (CI) jobs to streamline documentation workflows.
  • Enhance technical writing efficiency by reducing manual tasks through tooling and workflow improvements.
  • Design documentation structures that support AI agent consumption in addition to human readers.
  • Improve OpenAPI specification quality by working closely with writers and engineers on field naming, example coverage, and schema design.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong empathy for developers, crafting documentation that increases efficiency for integrating engineers while producing precise and clear content beyond tooling.
  • Ability to independently code, write scripts, debug errors, and deliver functioning solutions without relying on AI assistance.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, used extensively within the tooling ecosystem.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Familiarity with reading and working with OpenAPI 3.x specifications.
  • Understanding of how to make documentation machine-readable in addition to being accessible for humans.
  • Practical knowledge of AI tools, particularly Claude, including daily use and aptitude in prompting for beneficial results.
  • A strong inclination toward accuracy over volume, knowing when to automate and recognizing when automation is counterproductive.

Technology Stack

  • Docusaurus for documentation site development.
  • GitHub and GitHub Actions to manage content workflows and CI.
  • Scalar utilized for rendering API references.
  • OpenAPI 3.x serving as the authoritative source for API documentation.
  • JavaScript and TypeScript employed for tooling and customizations on the site.
  • Claude AI for supporting workflow automation and content generation.

Benefits and Perks

  • Join a large team of over 90 engineers, product managers, and designers based in Berlin.
  • Work with leadership boasting more than 8 years developing the promotions engine.
  • Annual learning budget of €1,000 and complimentary German language classes to aid personal development.
  • 30 days of annual leave, plus additional paid leave for birthday and relocation days.
  • Home office setup budget and monthly allowance for remote work.
  • Opportunity to work remotely from abroad up to 90 days worldwide.
  • Mental health support via nilo.health and discounted access to Urban Sports Club.
  • 20% company contribution toward pension plans.
  • Discounted BVG public transportation tickets and a dog-friendly Berlin office environment.
  • Access to lease bicycles through BusinessBike for commuting and leisure.
