About the Role
In this role, you will assist teachers by supporting educational activities and helping manage classroom tasks, allowing teachers to concentrate on delivering the learning agenda. The position plays a vital role in providing direct assistance to students by reinforcing lessons through repetition and personalized support. Responsibilities include organizing educational materials, maintaining classroom supplies, and assisting with various administrative and supervisory duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute teaching and project materials; set up audio and instructional equipment; monitor attendance.
- Maintain classroom organization by helping students with materials, tidying workspaces, and managing belongings.
- Create and display educational content for classrooms and corridors to enhance learning environments.
- Supervise snacks and other related student activities during school hours.
- Support teachers by undertaking teaching-related duties and office tasks such as photocopying, filing, and handling phone calls.
- Ensure student safety by following health and safety policies, assisting in enforcing school rules, and maintaining awareness of safety procedures.
- Oversee student transport safety, including seatbelt enforcement on buses; manage student behavior and ensure handover to authorized adults safely.
- Maintain communication with transport coordinators, parents, and teachers regarding attendance, behavior, and any safeguarding concerns.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum educational qualification is a high school diploma.
- At least two years of experience as a teaching assistant or in a related supportive educational role.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong understanding of classroom instructional methods and equipment use.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with students, teachers, parents, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in behavior management and safeguarding with an empathetic, responsible outlook.
