About the Role

We seek an experienced Senior Software Engineer skilled in C++ to strengthen our Core Security team. This role centers on software security initiatives aimed at defending our games and services against cheaters, hackers, and other malicious interference. This is a permanent, full-time position located at our advanced development studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Core Security Team Responsibilities

• Protect players, employees, and the business through advanced security measures.
• Develop anti-cheat systems to maintain the fairness of our online gaming experience.
• Implement anti-piracy solutions safeguarding our intellectual property.
• Apply anti-tamper techniques to secure critical code elements.
• Support flagship titles such as Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption.
• Collaborate closely with multiple cross-functional teams to reinforce game security.

Key Responsibilities

• Design innovative solutions to address known security vulnerabilities in our products.
• Research and implement anti-tamper and anti-cheat technologies.
• Analyze and fix exceptions related to code obfuscation and anti-tamper methods.
• Profile performance of protected and unprotected code to meet performance benchmarks.
• Integrate security solutions following the software development lifecycle within game teams.
• Conduct cross-platform testing to ensure software quality.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of seven years' experience in software or security development using C++.
• Background in security and/or game development environments.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude, especially in debugging complex C++ code.
• Analytical capabilities to evaluate system performance and memory usage, with effective communication skills to provide resolutions.
• Proven ability to independently manage projects from conceptualization through execution.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)

• Deep understanding of reverse engineering principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of game protection technologies.
• Experience with disassemblers and decompilers, such as IDA Pro.
• Familiarity with core cryptographic concepts.
• Experience working with crash dumps and 64-bit architecture.
