Refinery Operator (L2)

Overview

Glencore Australia's Copper Refineries in Townsville, Queensland is seeking a dedicated Refinery Operator (Refinery Circulator RO2) to join the Circulation Department. In this full-time, residential position, you will report directly to the Supervisor Circulation and be integral to safely producing high-quality copper cathode by operating, controlling, and monitoring essential refinery systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and control the electrolyte circulation system, along with the Electrolyte Treatment and Purification Plants.
• Manage mineral processing equipment and associated control systems to ensure safe, efficient production.
• Perform process isolations and assist operational activities per site procedures.
• Oversee stormwater management, reagent supply, and ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
• Promptly report equipment issues, leaks, and defects using maintenance management systems.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and actively participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience Required

• Previous hands-on experience operating mineral processing, metallurgical, or heavy industrial process plant equipment.
• Familiarity with control room operations and working knowledge of DCS and/or SCADA systems.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities to identify and resolve operational problems efficiently.
• Possession of a current manual driver's license and LF forklift license.
• Proficient computer skills to complete operational reporting and documentation accurately.
