Role Overview
This position sits within LinkedIn’s Bangalore engineering organization and supports the India initiatives team. The role calls for an ambitious engineering leader who can guide a team in building new products and services, while also helping scale existing offerings for India’s rapidly expanding market. The position works with teams across the company to deliver a smooth and consistent experience across products and platforms.
Work Model

Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering performance and career growth for a team, while taking ownership of important product areas that involve design, architecture, and coding.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on the creation of a long-range technology strategy and roadmap.
- Serve as a hands-on guide and coach for engineers, with a strong focus on execution and quality engineering practices.
- Coordinate with other teams to use and strengthen a shared technical foundation.
- Drive the scaling of distributed systems, evaluate architecture decisions using synchronous and asynchronous approaches, review code, and help teams deliver quickly without sacrificing quality.
- Build multi-tier, high-volume, reliable, and user-focused applications that run continuously around the clock.
- Ensure software is well tested, peer reviewed, and integrated regularly to support continuous integration practices.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should have a BS in Computer Science or a related field, along with at least 8 years of relevant engineering experience and 2+ years of direct technical management experience. Strong software design and coding experience in Java or C++ is required, with at least 5 years in one of these languages.
Preferred Background
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of experience managing small to medium teams, with a clear record of growth and successful delivery. Additional strengths include building and working with production-grade systems, shipping large projects that depend on multiple teams, partnering effectively across functions, shaping technical strategy and roadmaps, mentoring team members, and working closely with recruiting to build strong engineering teams.
