Role overview
Northern Star Resources is seeking a Loading Operator for the KCGM Super Pit in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. This is a long-term opportunity within a large-scale gold mining operation, with work based at the Fimiston Open Pit on a family-friendly 7:7 residential roster. What you will do
- Operate excavators, face shovels, and related mobile plant to help achieve production goals safely and on schedule.
- Load trucks accurately to the required capacity from the correct bench level, while keeping truck flow balanced for steady ore and waste movement.
- Work alongside technical specialists such as geologists and geotechnical staff to ensure tasks meet the expected standard and align with the production plan.
- Take part in pre-shift planning, follow dig plans, help identify hazards, and make sure mobile equipment is used efficiently.
- Manage the work area by directing dozers and trucks over radio and maintaining active communication with dispatch regarding ground conditions.
Experience and qualifications
This role calls for at least 5 years of ancillary operating experience in hard rock mining, along with at least 2 years of operating a shovel of 500 tonnes or more. Preference will be given to candidates with 5 years of shovel operating experience. Applicants must also live in the Goldfields region or be willing to relocate. A solid understanding of mining sequence processes, as well as strong computer literacy, is required. A current unrestricted C-class driver’s licence is essential. S44 certification is not mandatory, but it would be an advantage.
