The International TV Software team focuses on software development for TV platforms in Europe and Australia, collaborating with SOC partners, and ensuring compliance with regional broadcast standards such as ETV, the BBC, and DTG.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer on the Regional TV Software team, you will develop and deliver software for regional TV platforms, supporting new product launches and software projects. This role involves close partnership with SOC vendors, handling certification processes, and developing features using primarily C++ alongside some C, Python, and JavaScript. You will adapt software to regional standards like HbbTV and troubleshoot across the software stack, contributing to greenfield developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain software tailored for TV platforms in Europe and Australia.
  • Work with SOC vendors to support new TV initiatives and address platform-specific technical challenges.
  • Assist with certification compliance involving organizations like ETV, BBC, and DTG.
  • Engage in all phases of new software projects: gathering requirements, design, and coding.
  • Develop mainly in C++ with supplementary use of C, Python, and JavaScript as needed.
  • Modify and port software to fulfill regional broadcast standards including HbbTV.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across multiple software layers working with cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in greenfield feature developments during new platform rollouts.
  • Utilize AI-based programming assistants and tools to accelerate development and improve code quality.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • One to three years of hands-on commercial experience with C or C++ development.
  • Familiarity with Python programming language.
  • Interest or prior exposure to embedded systems or low-level software engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency in leveraging AI coding assistance tools to enhance productivity and quality.
  • A systems-oriented mindset with curiosity about component interactions and broad learning agility.
  • Exposure to Linux environments is advantageous but not required.
  • Knowledge of HTML and browser-based development is a plus.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities paired with a collaborative working style.
