PowerBuilder Developer

Overview

MSRcosmos LLC is looking to hire experienced PowerBuilder Developers to join their team remotely in India. This opportunity involves working primarily on legacy PowerBuilder applications and delivering enhancements and remediation on existing software systems that have been operational since the 1990s.

Working Hours

The work schedule is 12:30 PM to 9:30 PM IST from March to November and 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM IST from November to March.

Project Details

• Maintaining and updating 4-5 major PowerBuilder applications plus several smaller ones currently under migration.
• Applications primarily related to trade, with additional systems handling payments/settlements and invoicing.
• No new builds are expected; focus is on remediation and feature updates within PowerBuilder.
• Some experience with consuming APIs developed in other technologies is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Planned migration of legacy PowerBuilder applications by 2028 offers potential transition to modernized technology stacks like .NET.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical aspects across all phases of software development from planning through execution.
• Evaluate and apply appropriate software design methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• Guide the analysis and creation of major design projects and solution architecture, advising throughout development.
• Prepare implementation strategies for complex application change requests.
• Manage system and acceptance test planning, including areas like security testing.
• Maintain strong client relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee the design and planning of software release packages for large or complex modules.
• Mentor junior developers in software configuration, testing, and application development.
• Handle application support processes adhering to defined procedures.

Required Expertise and Skills

• Advanced knowledge of PowerBuilder, ideally versions later than 2017, with work on version 2022.
• Strong skills in understanding and modifying existing codebases to implement changes and new features.
• Proficiency with Oracle PL/SQL including complex queries and stored procedures.
• Solid grasp of software design principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with .NET technologies is advantageous, as relevant applications interact with .NET systems.
• Familiarity with PowerBuilder frameworks, particularly those involving SuperClass implementations.

Education

While PL/SQL expertise is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.
