Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness in common areas by following a cleaning schedule and ensuring high standards, including identifying and reporting necessary repairs and hazards.
• Perform outdoor maintenance such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, plant upkeep, weed treatment, and minor planting in shared spaces.
• Execute minor repair tasks as needed and conduct waste removal procedures following instructions.
• Liaise with refuse contractors to guarantee proper waste disposal and manage skip arrangements and bulk waste removal upon request.
• Oversee and monitor service contractors and repair work on-site.
• Conduct routine checks of lifts and phone entry systems.
• Utilize the onsite IT-based CAFM system via tablets or computers for task management.
• Manage security operations including opening and closing the building, setting alarms, acting as keyholder, and ensuring the facility's safety after classes, exams, or events.
• Carry out weekly safety system inspections including fire and intruder alarms and undertake necessary protective measures before and after storm warnings.
• Follow child safeguarding protocols strictly.
• Perform regular health and safety inspections of shared areas, addressing or reporting issues accordingly.
• Report any building or content issues promptly to the line manager, including abandoned vehicles on the site.

Candidate Profile

• At least two years of related experience in a similar caretaker or facilities management role.
• Proficient in general DIY repairs.
• Skilled in coordinating with external agencies on deadlines, costs, and quality assurance.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Possess a valid full driving license.
• Knowledge and adherence to health and safety regulations and manual handling techniques.
• Efficient at prioritizing daily tasks and workloads.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different hierarchies and demonstrate teamwork.
• Capability to perform physical labor aspects inherent to the job.
