Role Overview

The Assistant Credit Controller will facilitate key account reconciliations to improve service quality and ensure timely confirmation processes. The role supports the Accounts Receivable (AR) review and reconciliation procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly provide feedback and status updates of reconciliations and customer accounts to the Credit Controller.
  • Collaborate proactively with colleagues to meet shared business goals and optimize reconciliation statuses.
  • Identify and communicate new initiatives and improvement areas to the Credit Controller and ensure their implementation.
  • Align with organizational values, set personal objectives, and pursue continuous professional development for career advancement.
  • Distribute statements for credit customers according to SSFL policy and timelines.
  • Coordinate with Finance Shared Services (FSS), Credit Controller, Customer Account Management (CAM), and Sales teams to secure timely balance confirmations from salespersons and credit customers.
  • Prepare timely reconciliations for all customers, highlight any discrepancies, and facilitate their resolution.
  • Review reconciliations with DC finance supervisors, Credit Controller, and CAM, ensuring organized and accessible filing.
  • Compile and share Customer Reconciliation Summaries with regional sales and finance teams and report to the Credit Controller in a timely manner.
  • Follow up to ensure confirmation completion and reconciling within Order-to-Cash (OTC) deadlines.
  • Manage CDA variable and fixed credit coordination with the Revenue Analyst for timely processing aligned with deduction policies.
  • Analyze payment data from FSS regarding OTC customer payments, report inconsistencies such as unpaid or short-paid invoices, credit/debit notes, and stale items, and liaise with sales teams and customers for resolution.
  • Monitor monthly collection schedules, ensuring OTC customers comply with Long-Term Agreements (LTAs), and escalate delays to Key Account Managers (KAMs) and Finance.
  • Coordinate follow-ups and actions from meetings with the sales team regarding issues like credit notes, LTAs, and promotions.
  • Maintain summaries highlighting LTA details for OTC customers, including credit terms, balance confirmations, and fixed incentives.
  • Collaborate with collection agencies and insurance companies for receivable collections on assigned cases.
  • Provide clear explanations for holds on Credit Control Purchasing Framework (CCPF) to assist Credit Controller, CAM, and management in decision-making.
  • Execute internal controls effectively by understanding objectives, documenting test attributes, performing evaluations, maintaining audit trails, remediating deficiencies, and reporting verification outcomes.
  • Ensure 100% quarterly customer confirmation completion.
  • Maintain reconciliations organized and compliant with internal control requirements.
  • Resolve action items within one accounting cycle.
  • Perform thorough reviews and follow-ups of control procedures.
  • Complete and sign test scripts and maintain audit evidence for third-party assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Finance or partially qualified in ACA, CPA, or ACMA.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in core finance functions.
  • Proficient with Sales and Distribution (SD) software modules.
  • Strong initiative and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Familiarity with Source to Contract (S2C) processes.
