Support CPP Operation

Job purpose

This role supports captive thermal power plant operations that enable aluminum production at Hindalco Industries Limited. The position focuses on ensuring auxiliary boiler systems run safely, equipment breakdowns are prevented, and the unit can be restarted quickly when needed. It also requires working closely with the maintenance team, reporting abnormalities through EKAYAAN, isolating equipment safely for maintenance, and restoring it to normal condition after maintenance is completed.

Job context

The captive thermal power plant plays a critical support role for aluminum manufacturing. The job demands close monitoring of boiler auxiliaries, rapid response to operational issues, and disciplined coordination with maintenance to keep plant operations stable and safe.

Job challenges

• Minimize all forms of operational loss while helping reduce consumption of natural resources such as raw materials, electricity, air, fuel, oil, and water.
• Hand over shifts effectively and complete shift reports, eReporting, production MIS updates, and logbook entries at the end of each shift.

Key result areas and accountabilities

Safety

• Maintain zero fatalities.
• Keep LTIFR below 0.25.
• Keep TRIFR below 0.7.
• Keep LTISR below 75.
• Complete 3.0 man-days of safety training per year.
• Achieve 72 BBSO observations per employee per year, including 3 scheduled and 3 unscheduled observations every month.
• Capture 24 potential incidents per employee per year, or 2 per person per month.
• Ensure full compliance with all safety-related observations identified in corporate cross-unit audits.
• Maintain 100% compliance with the e-permit system across Renusagar.
• Support implementation of the Fatality Prevention Program.

Sustainability

• Reduce leakages and losses of raw water.
• Cut down DM water consumption.
• Prevent steam leakages.
• Ensure insulation is properly maintained.
• Carry out PSSR after survey work and close identified issues on time.
• Ensure trial testing and logic and interlock checks are completed after survey work.

Customer centricity

• Prevent trips caused by human error.
• Follow SOPs for unit revival and help restore the unit within the target revival time of 50 minutes.
• Avoid delays caused by operations such as normalization and isolation, while staying compliant with safety standards.

People

• Improve proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
• Develop two employees by building their competency in their current work area and preparing them to handle one additional area.
• Build personal readiness for the next higher responsibility.

Cost

• Monitor and review operating parameters to achieve the best possible heat rate.
• Operate energy-efficient equipment.
• Follow equipment changeover schedules properly.
• Monitor cooling tower overflow and report any leakages promptly.

Systems, organization, process, governance, and people

• Conduct WCM small group meetings as scheduled and submit BCE reports on time.
• Deliver relevant one-point lessons to strengthen shop-floor competency.
• Encourage employees on the shop floor to raise quality Kaizens and support implementation by preparing MOC and coordinating with the maintenance team.
• Strengthen ownership through visible efforts under the Apni Zimmedari movement.
• Maintain 5S, LLF, and CLIT practices.
