Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Collaborate within the Fire Protection team to analyze incoming tender enquiries and formulate cost estimates adhering to specified design standards and sustainability criteria for small-scale and maintenance projects.
- Develop comprehensive cost proposals for various fire protection systems such as sprinklers, gas suppression, water mist, hose reels, fire hydrants, and dry risers.
- Offer informed advice to management on the likelihood of successful bids and opportunities.
- Participate in pre- and post-tender meetings to discuss project specifics and outcomes.
- Compile and evaluate specialist subcontractor quotations, ensuring alignment with specifications and requirements.
- Execute precise take-offs using tender drawings and site documentation.
- Provide regular reports to management covering competitor movements, market trends, and other relevant market intelligence.
- Work closely with the Fire Protection Commercial and Sustainability teams.
- Prepare and justify cost submissions for contract variations, along with all necessary backup documentation for smooth final account reconciliation.
- Coordinate with site teams to confirm and fully comprehend scope of works.
- Contribute to project cost estimating and value engineering activities when applicable.
- Adhere strictly to Mercury Engineering’s Code of Conduct and perform additional tasks as reasonably assigned, with acknowledgement that job scope may evolve with business needs.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in estimation roles within construction.
- Practical experience in construction operations.
- Formal qualifications in Fire Protection, Sprinkler Design, and Hydraulic Calculations.
- Relevant professional certifications such as LPC, VdS Certification, NFPA Training, or equivalents.
- Willingness to travel as required for the position.
