Role overview

The Electrical Engineer will support a large electrical system by working alongside electrical subcontractors on design, development, and installation activities in line with project schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out all work in line with the Winthrop Integrated Management System and ensure it is properly managed.
• Review, coordinate, and manage drawings when required.
• Provide technical direction and practical support to subcontracted teams.
• Plan, prioritise, and assign tasks within the technical team.
• Make sure subcontractors comply with site rules, project requirements, and health and safety obligations.
• Use troubleshooting methods to identify issues and implement corrective measures.
• Maintain accurate document control and keep all records and logs current.
• Prepare handover documentation and test packs for systems.
• Identify compliance and governance matters and ensure they are followed at all times.
• Monitor health and safety on site and confirm that all subcontractors work safely.
• Look for better working methods and introduce improvements where they can enhance safety.
• Ensure housekeeping standards remain high across the site.
• Complete weekly “don't walk by” cards.

Requirements

• A relevant electrical qualification is required, such as a master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• HNC or HND credentials are preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in a comparable role within a mechanical and electrical contracting environment is essential.
• Experience in data centre projects is an advantage.
• Strong organisational, communication, and time management abilities are needed.
• Good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is required.
