Role overview
Boots UK is looking for a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in South Hetton, England, United Kingdom. In this position, you’ll help support the pharmacist and wider healthcare colleagues to deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Day to day, you’ll work closely with patients in the healthcare area of the store. The role involves welcoming customers, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, making sure medicines are supplied safely, and offering practical health and wellbeing guidance so customers can make informed choices.
This is an on-site store-based role in the UK. Remote candidates will not be considered, and applications from people outside the UK will only move forward if they can provide relevant UK qualifications and verified right to work.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while maintaining safe medicine supply, including ordering, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Partner with healthcare colleagues in store to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer advice and basic care information about medicines, escalating queries to the Pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with new in-store innovations and follow operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines effectively to improve adherence and reduce waste.
- Work with new store technologies and systems that improve dispensing processes, patient safety, and time spent with patients.
Training and progression
You’ll receive regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge, along with career development opportunities such as training toward Pharmacy Technician or moving into store leadership.

The pay for this role is £13.92 per hour, rising up to £16.64 per hour in selected London locations.

What you need
You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be currently working toward it and have finished the first year of an MPharm degree.
You must have current, valid UK right to work. This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
Experience in community pharmacy would be an advantage.
