About the Role
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Motueka, requiring approximately 65+ hours per fortnight. As a Support Worker with IDEA Services, you will empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling lives within their homes and communities. This role offers a creative and engaging opportunity to make a significant positive impact on others' lives.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals in developing independence and acquiring essential life skills, such as navigating public transport, seeking employment, and preparing meals.
- Support individuals with their daily routines, including personal care, medication management, and meal times.
- Facilitate the pursuit of personal goals, interests, and hobbies.
- Promote health and well-being by encouraging positive lifestyle choices.
- Foster strong connections with family/whānau and the wider community.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for a career in support work, coupled with a positive outlook and a commitment to learning.
- Flexibility to work varied rostered shifts, including evenings, mornings, weekends, and overnight sleepovers.
- Proficiency in using computers and tablets for daily tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Physical capability to provide necessary support.
- A valid, full New Zealand driver's license.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Eligibility
This role is open to individuals who are legally permitted to work in New Zealand and possess a strong desire to support people with intellectual disabilities. Full training will be provided, so prior experience is not essential, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are highly valued. Candidates must be comfortable with flexible working hours, including sleepovers and weekend shifts.
Education Required
While no specific degree is mandated, the role offers opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications up to Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing.
