Role Overview
The Staff Software Development Engineer will embrace a pivotal technical leadership role, influencing broad organizational projects. This position entails shaping technical strategies, steering architectural decisions, mentoring multiple teams, and providing expert guidance throughout complex software endeavors that span various domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and direct technical strategies for large-scale, organization-wide projects
- Lead architecture decisions for multifaceted software systems
- Promote innovation and enforce best practices across development groups
- Mentor and guide teams while impacting technical directions beyond immediate assignments
- Address intricate technical challenges crossing different technical areas
- Oversee cross-functional technical initiatives from inception to final delivery
- Develop and implement engineering standards and procedures for software development
- Represent and advocate technical viewpoints during strategic planning
Essential Skills and Expertise
- Advanced knowledge in system architecture across diverse technologies
- Extensive technical proficiency spanning multiple software disciplines and frameworks
- Proven leadership in managing complex, multi-team projects
- Mastery in software design with experience in challenging applications
- Successful track record in navigating and delivering complex projects with commercial relevance
- Exceptional communication and influence capabilities across organizational levels
- In-depth understanding of software licensing models including open-source, proprietary, and hybrid licenses
- Experience working with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automated build/test workflows integrated with version control
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- More than 8 years of experience in software development
- Documented history of technical leadership on significant, impactful projects
