Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

In the position of Senior or Staff Software Engineer, you will act as a technical lead within a dedicated squad. Your key function will involve steering the strategic design, development, and delivery of multiple products managed by your team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage your squad to fulfil product and engineering objectives efficiently.
• Develop software solutions that are durable, easy to maintain, and reusable.
• Make significant technical contributions while mentoring and coaching team members to uphold engineering best practices.
• Drive the team's direction towards prioritizing impactful initiatives that benefit the public good.
• Implement processes and tools to strengthen engineering culture and enhance team productivity.
• Coordinate external dependencies related to your deliverables independently.
• Collaborate with other leadership to formulate and maintain long-term technical strategies and roadmaps for your squad and others as necessary, adjusting plans in response to evolving product and infrastructure needs.
• Lead efforts to recruit senior talent to enhance the squad’s capabilities.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience working on large-scale, high-availability software systems designed to operate at scale.
• Proficiency with modern full-stack web technologies, preferably including front-end frameworks like Next.js/React.js and backend development with Java and/or TypeScript.
• A clear understanding and embodiment of technical leadership, encompassing both technical expertise and essential interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to engineering excellence with appreciation for software craftsmanship and teamwork.
• A passion for contributing to initiatives serving the public good.
• Experience in mentoring and developing junior engineering talent.
