Senior Costing Accountant

Job Overview

The Senior Costing Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing, analyzing, and reporting production costs, inventory valuations, and budget controls to optimize company profitability at Arab Paper Manufacturing Co (WARAQ) based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Primary Responsibilities

• Regularly evaluate and monitor production expenditures including direct/indirect materials, labor, and overhead costs.
• Maintain accuracy and verification of Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing data within the ERP platform.
• Conduct periodic updates for standard costs and cost roll-ups following approved modifications.
• Generate detailed variance reports to identify significant cost fluctuations.
• Reconcile inventory values across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products.
• Manage monthly and annual closing procedures related to the cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Analyze cost compositions and propose actionable enhancements to reduce manufacturing expenses.
• Monitor and justify costs linked to scrap, rework, and non-conformance incidences.
• Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting efforts for manufacturing cost centers.
• Perform profitability and margin analyses segmented by product lines, clients, and regions.
• Assist internal and external auditors by providing cost analysis documentation and responses.
• Assess effects of pricing changes, currency exchange fluctuations, and utility usage on product cost assessments.
• Prepare cost reports to aid pricing strategies, quotations, and bidding processes for local and export markets.
• Coordinate with warehouse, production, and maintenance departments to ensure cost data accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to internal control standards, costing policies, and audit directives.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree specializing in Accounting, Finance, or Industrial Management.
• At least 5 to 8 years of professional experience in cost accounting or related roles.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and cost accounting software tools.
• Strong familiarity with ERP systems, with preference for Microsoft Dynamics AX expertise.
• Highly analytical with meticulous attention to detail and strong knowledge of manufacturing cost control.
• Fluent competence in English communication.
