About the Role

Joining Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant offers an excellent chance to develop essential skills in retail and customer interaction. Key Duties

• Maintain the self-checkout area to be clean, safe, and orderly, free from clutter, spills, or unnecessary items.
• Encourage participation in Walmart's programs such as credit services, product protection plans, and charity initiatives when applicable.
• Offer timely support to customers using self-checkout, addressing their questions and monitoring the area to facilitate smooth operations. Clearly communicate with customers when intervention is necessary in a friendly manner and escalate any cash or technical complications to management.
• Respond promptly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms following the prescribed procedures and accurately fill out the required failure-to-deactivate logs.
• Ensure Scan & Go scanners are properly returned to their designated spots after customer use.
• Adapt to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet store operational demands.

Challenges to Expect

• Manage high workload effectively in a fast-moving environment, particularly during overnight hours, maintaining focus and energy throughout shifts.
• Handle significant restocking and merchandising tasks with precision and timeliness.
• Perform physical activities such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Carry out repetitive duties like stocking and zoning with consistent attention to detail to uphold Walmart's store standards.

Compensation

The starting wage for this position is $18.40 per hour.
