Job description
Role Overview
We seek a meticulous Quantity Surveyor to oversee and support the commercial and financial components of construction initiatives. This position demands effective cost regulation, precise measurements, contract management, and financial oversight through all phases of a project.
Key Duties
- Developing cost estimates, bills of quantities, tender documents, and cost reports.
- Examining drawings, project specifications, and contract paperwork.
- Measuring and valuing construction activities accurately.
- Tracking project expenses and budgets continually.
- Assessing contract variations, claims, and payment submissions.
- Collaborating with project leaders, engineers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders to maintain financial precision and support project success.
- Helping procurement operations by reviewing subcontractor and supplier price quotations.
- Identifying and managing potential cost risks and keeping commercial records up to date.
- Providing prompt cost and contractual updates to aid decision-making processes.
Essential Qualifications & Expertise
- Comprehensive understanding of quantity surveying methodologies, construction cost oversight, and commercial protocols.
- Capability to generate and audit cost estimates, bills of quantities, tender documents, valuations, and detailed cost reporting.
- Well-versed in interpreting construction plans, specifications, contractual terms, and measurement approaches.
- Experience with contract administration processes including handling variations, claims, payment requests, and final accounts.
- Skilled in budget monitoring, cost analysis, and detection of commercial vulnerabilities.
- Strong numerical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Competent in assessing quotations, cost comparison, and supporting procurement and subcontractor oversight.
- Familiarity with construction standards, legal contractual concepts, and cost management protocols.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and relevant quantity surveying or project management software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration abilities to engage effectively with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams.
- High precision and detail focus with capability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Capacity to generate coherent commercial reports and maintain well-organized project documents.
