Python Engineering Lead

Role Overview

Join our Abu Dhabi-based team as a Python Engineering Lead, working onsite to spearhead the development of a secure Nuclear Material Accounting and Control platform. This role blends hands-on Python backend development with comprehensive engineering leadership responsibilities, emphasizing secure enterprise application development and AI-enhanced software engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and harmonize efforts of engineering teams spanning backend, frontend, QA, DevOps, data, and integration to meet project goals.
• Maintain active involvement in coding critical backend components using Python.
• Transform architectural designs and project requirements into detailed engineering plans and task assignments.
• Lead technical decision making, manage estimations and dependencies, and troubleshoot challenging issues.
• Establish and uphold coding standards, oversee code reviews, set quality benchmarks, and govern automated testing processes.
• Implement and supervise AI-driven coding methodologies throughout the development lifecycle.
• Ensure AI-generated code complies with security, regulatory, and maintenance standards.
• Manage system integration efforts, guarantee data integrity and audit trails, and prepare solutions for production environments.
• Provide mentorship to engineering team members and preserve high-quality delivery across various domains.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive practical experience in Python backend development.
• Proven track record leading cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Expertise with FastAPI framework, RESTful API design, PostgreSQL, and SQLAlchemy ORM.
• Background in delivering secure and auditable enterprise-grade software solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and integrating AI into development workflows.
• Knowledgeable in automated testing frameworks, CI/CD processes, and secure coding standards.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure management and container orchestration platforms such as Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Strong collaboration skills for interfacing with solution architects, business analysts, and security specialists.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related disciplines.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Familiarity with SAP systems and enterprise identity management integrations.
• Understanding of frontend frameworks like React or Angular.
• Experience in regulated sectors including nuclear, energy, or government environments.
• Exposure to orchestration and data processing tools such as Prefect or Databricks.
