About the Role

We are seeking an organised and practical individual with strong coordination abilities and a technical mindset to join our Environmental Planning team as a Planning Technician. This role involves supporting the resource consenting process through various administrative and coordination activities. While prior experience as a Planning Technician is not mandatory, attention to detail, communication clarity, and teamwork are essential.

  • Accept and verify documents and correspondence, then circulate and coordinate them effectively.
  • Assist with referrals, submissions, hearings, decisions, and related administrative tasks.
  • Provide support for financial tasks such as processing invoices, purchase orders, and reporting.
  • Coordinate data management and reporting requirements to ensure smooth operations.
  • Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate timely processing of applications.
  • Identify and contribute to improvements in resource consent workflow processes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should be able to handle detailed tasks within deadline-driven, customer-focused environments. Key attributes include:

  • Strong administrative capabilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Confidence in managing systems, data, documentation, and process-oriented assignments.
  • Ability to comprehend and work with technical information.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and adaptability to new software systems.
  • Interest in planning, consenting, environmental matters, or local government operations.
  • Familiarity with the Resource Management Act or resource consent procedures is advantageous but not required.
