Job description
Job Overview
As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing computer networks and associated computing environments. This includes systems software, applications, hardware, and their configurations to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain network systems, including software, hardware, and configurations.
- Carry out disaster recovery procedures and perform data backups as necessary to protect data integrity.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Replace defective network hardware components promptly to maintain optimal functionality.
- Set up and configure routers, network switches, and Optical Network Terminals (ONT) to support network infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance continually to determine if adjustments or optimizations are needed.
- Collaborate with network users to address and resolve system problems effectively.
- Operate Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) tools and execute fiber optic splicing for up to 48-core cables.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of computer networking principles and network component configurations.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and executing data backups.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software network issues.
- Ability to configure and maintain routers, switches, and ONT devices.
- Operational knowledge of OTDR tools and fiber optic splicing up to 48 cores.
