Role summary

This position is for an experienced mainframe developer who can work independently as an individual contributor. The role centers on building, testing, and supporting enterprise applications in a fast-paced delivery environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and support mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and related mainframe technologies.
• Carry out application design, coding, testing, and documentation for complex client-side software.
• Study business needs and convert them into practical technical specifications.
• Handle JCL-related work, programming tasks, test execution, conversion monitoring, and result verification.
• Diagnose defects, troubleshoot issues, and improve program performance.
• Work on software design, SDLC activities, development methods, and implementation tasks.
• Collaborate with business analysts and cross-functional teams to support integration and deployment.
• Take ownership of project execution end to end, including planning, development, and delivery.
• Develop and improve front-end support methods for business analysts.

Technical experience required

• Hands-on coding exposure in CICS/VSAM and/or IMS/DB2, COBOL II, Easytrieve, JCL, MVS operating system, Expeditor, Endeavor, and/or Changeman source management tools.
• Strong working knowledge of COBOL, VSAM, and JCL.
• Experience with CICS, preferably recent, with at least 2+ years of hands-on exposure.
• Good understanding of DB2, including queries, tuning, and maintenance, along with SQL.
• Familiarity with batch and online processing, including high-volume and queue-based workflows.
• Working knowledge of mainframe tools such as Easytrieve, SORT utilities, ICTOOL, TSO/ISPF, File-AID, SPUFI, and IBM utilities.
• Exposure to Hogan Core Banking Applications is required, along with knowledge of Hogan Umbrella, PEM, CDMF, Librarian, Logical Environments, and Hogan Abend identification and resolution for both online and batch processing.
