Job description

Role Overview

The Fire Fighting Supervisor is entrusted with overseeing the installation, upkeep, testing, and operational aspects of fire protection systems at various project locations.

Core Duties

  • Manage the installation processes of fire hydrant systems, sprinklers, fire alarms, fire pumps, and suppression systems.
  • Supervise daily activities involving technicians, electricians, welders, and helpers to ensure proper workflow.
  • Verify that all work aligns with approved blueprints, quantity estimates (BOQ), technical specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Inspect critical firefighting equipment including pipelines, valves, pumps, hydrants, springs, and alarms regularly.
  • Carry out thorough testing and commissioning of installed fire-fighting systems.
  • Detect any faults and organize the necessary repair and corrective actions promptly.
  • Maintain comprehensive daily records such as progress reports, inspection forms, test documentation, and material logs.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, engineers, contractors, and site representatives to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Promote strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage and enforce site safety protocols.
  • Ensure quality assurance by checking materials and confirming their proper use on-site.
  • Oversee specialized procedures like pressure testing, flushing, pump and alarm testing, and system demonstrations.
  • Provide guidance to technicians and workers about correct installation and upkeep methods.
  • Report regularly on work progress, site challenges, manpower status, and material needs to Project Engineer or Manager.
  • Strive to complete assigned tasks within the defined project timelines.
  • Assist in fire safety audits, inspections, and preparing handover documentation.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or ITI certification in Fire & Safety, Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent discipline.
  • Proven experience handling installation and maintenance of fire-fighting systems.
  • Key competencies include knowledge of fire hydrant and sprinkler systems, fire pumps, alarm systems, blueprint reading, onsite supervision, troubleshooting, workforce management, safety compliance, and documentation.

Salary and Location

This position offers a monthly salary ranging from INR 12,000 to INR 22,000 and is based in Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India.
