Data Engineer

About the Role

This contract opportunity is for experienced data engineering professionals who can help assess and strengthen frontier AI coding models through structured technical review. The assignments are centered on practical, real-world data engineering work and model evaluation.

Availability is limited, and places are expected to be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with frontier AI coding agents to solve and assess advanced data engineering problems.
• Examine AI-generated solutions for ETL workflows, data warehouse design, analytics systems, and distributed data architectures.
• Spot defects, unusual edge cases, scalability concerns, and other possible failure points.
• Evaluate and compare outputs produced by different frontier models, noting their relative strengths and limitations.
• Use sound professional engineering judgment when reviewing realistic data infrastructure scenarios.

Time Commitment

This is a sprint-based assignment structure, with project blocks running in 12 to 24 hour stretches depending on client needs.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• At least 2 years of professional experience in data engineering.
• Hands-on background in building ETL pipelines, data warehouses, analytics platforms, or distributed data systems.
• Frequent use of AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, or similar assistants.
• Comfort evaluating model-created implementations for data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms is a plus.

Compensation

The role pays $80 per hour. Accepted tasks are compensated at $400 each, and the usual completion time after ramp-up is about 2 to 3 hours. Payment is based on work that is accepted.
