Cargo Operator

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure LNG operations adhere strictly to Shell’s internal standards, including compliance with HSSE protocols, focusing particularly on hazards and risks that might affect Shell’s operational license.
• Execute all commercial and operational commitments arising from contracts completely and flawlessly, ensuring all nominations and obligations are met.
• Coordinate cargo operations efficiently by managing pre- and post-deal activities, collaborating regularly with freight partners, suppliers, end receivers, and terminals to ensure aligned understanding.
• Maintain up-to-date trading systems by providing timely operational information, managing invoicing, reconciling accounts, and clearing accruals for both internal and external transactions.
• Manage multiple priorities dynamically and resolve contractual or operational challenges promptly to serve trading business interests optimally.
• Seek opportunities to add commercial and logistical value by applying embedded deal options proactively and solving problems creatively.
• Assist commercial teams in evaluating the feasibility of new contractual arrangements for projects, new contracts, and spot cargoes.
• Negotiate supply schedules with third parties and calculate cargo pricing using applicable mechanisms and indices.
• Identify synergies within Shell Trading to enhance operational efficiency.
• Participate in short-term initiatives aimed at improving all facets of commercial operations continuously.
• Handle complex contract reconciliations involving large datasets punctually.
• Manage and nurture relationships with external stakeholders such as suppliers, customers, surveyors, and regulatory agencies.
• Proactively resolve operational disputes with both internal and external parties.
• Engage with external organizations to share best practices, explore digital innovations, and exchange knowledge.
• Support LNG Operations and Shell LNG Marketing & Trading (SLMT) Digitization strategies in cooperation with the project lead, driving ongoing enhancements and automation initiatives.
• Operate 24/7 in a global trading context and respond flexibly to demands outside standard working hours, coordinating with colleagues across different time zones.
