Environmental studies offers invaluable knowledge and skills to meet challenges on a daily basis and offer possible solutions to key issues affecting people at all levels of society. They include enabling one to analyze environmental issues, use the information as tools in decision making, leading to sustainable exploitation and management of resources. This program endowed me with the appropriate skills and up-to-date knowledge for acquiring, processing analyzing and maintaining environmental information. It also equipped me with advanced analysis functionalities that allowed me to perform complex environmental analysis.
Work & Experience
I was part of a multi-disciplinary team of independent experts (IE) who were tasked with monitoring the implementation of the Nairobi Expressway Project. The project was the first to be implemented under the public-private partnership project (PPPP) model in Kenya. My task, among others, was to ensure that the implementation of the project complied with relevant national environmental and safety regulations, the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the project, and license conditions as spelled out in the EIA License issued by NEMA.
I participated as an independent consultant in the implementation of the word bank-funded project KISIP lot-1 (Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Program). Under KISIP, I further sharpened my skills based on the position and tasks I handled and accomplished throughout the project. As the Environmental Health and Safety officer.
I worked with EarthCare Service Ltd as an associate expert consultant, I gained three main skills based on the various positions and clients have had the privilege to work with. I consulted as a Health and Safety Associate Expert, Environmental Auditor (EA), and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Expert.
