We are seeking a Material Expeditor to support a specialized US Navy initiative located on Diego Garcia island. This position focuses on guaranteeing prompt and efficient delivery of all materials, tools, and equipment necessary for ongoing operational support by coordinating between procurement, warehousing, and project teams to meet strict deadlines.
Key Duties
- Manage and expedite the movement of materials, tools, and supplies across departments or sites.
- Monitor shipments and delivery timelines to ensure supplies arrive as scheduled.
- Validate material requests for accuracy and alignment with operational needs.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve delays or shortages.
- Keep procurement databases and inventory records current with real-time material statuses.
- Inspect inbound goods to verify condition and adherence to order specifications.
- Report any damaged or defective items promptly and ensure swift corrective actions.
- Collaborate with logistics and warehouse groups on proper handling and storage procedures.
- Generate reports on material consumption, delivery schedules, and stock levels.
- Evaluate and enhance material expediting workflows to boost efficiency and meet contractual obligations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety protocols, and environmental standards in materials management.
- Perform additional duties consistent with the role’s scope as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years’ experience in material handling, expediting, or supply chain functions.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain concepts including procurement, inventory, and warehousing.
- Capability to track, control, and report on material and supply statuses in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in inventory software, databases, or ERP systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to liaise across multiple departments and external vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
- Valid passport with at least one year of remaining validity and ability to travel internationally.
- Qualification to obtain country-specific visas per US Department of State regulations.
- Ability to comply with contract medical standards and maintain physical readiness during deployment.
- Eligibility to acquire and retain necessary facility access credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications or further training in logistics, supply chain management, or material expediting.
- Prior experience in government or military logistics or supply chains.
- Knowledge of material management policies and procedures in military or government-contract environments.
- Background in working in remote overseas or austere settings.
- Experience handling hazardous materials and awareness of related safety requirements.
